13.02.17 New Publications and Poetry Award for Carfax Poet in Residence
The Dubai-based Carfax Poet in Residence, Alexandra Strnad, has two new publications scheduled in 2017, in Salzburg Review and the Frogmore Papers, both leading international poetry journals.
Alexandra was recently selected as a Finalist in the 2017 Aesthetica Creative Writing Award, with her work published in the annual Aesthetica Creative Writing anthology for the third consecutive year (http://www.aestheticamagazine.com/creative-writing-award/shortlist-2017/).
This builds on her recent success as a winner of the Oxford University 'Parallel Universe' poetry competition, in which her work was displayed in the Radcliffe Science Library, and published online by the university (http://www.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/science/about/poetry-competition-2016).
About Alexandra Strnad
Alexandra read for a BA in English at the University of Cambridge, followed by a Master's in Creative Writing at the University of Oxford, in which she was awarded a Distinction. She also completed the Young Writers Programme at the Royal Court Theatre, London, studied French at the University of Oxford, and Czech at Charles University, Prague. While at Cambridge her plays were performed at the ADC.
Winner of the 2014 Jane Martin Poetry Prize, the 2016 Parallel Universe Competition, and a finalist in the 2015, 2016, and 2017 Aesthetica Creative Writing competitions, Alexandra is regularly published in world-leading literary journals and anthologies. She is currently Poet in Residence at Carfax Education, and divides her time between Dubai and the Czech Republic.
Alexandra is also an experienced tutor of English, Creative Writing, and Drama. She regularly supports curriculum development work for English literature internationally, and has authored a number of textbooks.
