Summer Schools and Camps

Summer camps accept children aged 7 to 17 and can often serve as a springboard for enrolling a child into boarding school. Many offer priority to children who have previously attended a camp, whilst children are often reassured they are able to experience what it would be like to live away from home.

Many families opt for summer camps with strong language learning components because practicing a new language daily, with native speakers and in a real-life environment, allows children to improve quickly.  Children may be immersed in the language and the culture, yet they do not have the impression of being in school.

Summer camps are also a great way to perfect a specific sport, with many camps and sports academies in Europe and the United States dedicated to tennis, golf, football and other disciplines.

Summer schools are very similar to summer camps but place a greater emphasis on schoolwork, with more hours spent in the classroom perfecting language skills, mathematics or computer skills, for example. Summer schools run by large, prestigious universities are very selective and serve as an ideal place for young people to get an idea of what life is like at university.

The most popular destinations are the United Kingdom, Switzerland and France.
